Background

The Boule Connectivity initiative introduces the Boule Haematology Cloud, a worldwide web-based platform. This platform functions as a comprehensive dashboard, specialising in the analysis of Haematology blood samples for purposes such as quality control, equipment maintenance, and performance monitoring. Users can easily access all the gathered data through an intuitive and interactive report interface within the platform.

Stack holders word

The primary objectives of this project are focused on enhancing user accessibility and usability. This will be achieved by introducing a more efficient and user-friendly method for comparing existing data. The ultimate aim is to elevate the overall value of users' daily tasks while boosting result efficiency. Furthermore, it seeks to minimise or eliminate potential human errors that could otherwise impact equipment performance and the accuracy of blood sample results.

Project Kickoff

As the sole lead designer within a team consisting of the customer’s internal team, stakeholders, developers, engineers, a product owner, and a manager, I spearheaded the project kickoff. This in-house project was delivered via our Design Hub.

We began by onboarding all team members and thoroughly evaluating the received information. I delved deeper into gathering additional data to better understand and identify the primary pain points, requirements, constraints, and possibilities from business, technical, and customer perspectives.

This phase was crucial to establish a solid foundation for identifying problems and requirements, as clients often are not fully aware of their needs or the actual issues from the customer’s perspective. Through this comprehensive approach, we ensured that the project was set up for success from the very beginning.

Outcome
  • Project identification & technical summary

  • Current UI workflows

  • User/ customer interviews

  • Stakeholders interview

  • Target User/ Customer description & Needs

  • Product value proposition

  • Initial project requirements

  • Project risk & dependencies

  • Project possibilities

  • initial deliverables

  • For project tracking and documentation we used Jira & confluence

Key Problem Statement

The primary challenge in this situation revolves around the need to conduct a thorough diagnostic comparison report, aiming to pinpoint any anomalies in the quality report or errors within the instrument log. To accomplish this, the end user must compare the outcomes of their locally configured report with a more extensive database that encompasses data from other customers' instruments. This comparison serves the purpose of detecting any irregularities or mistakes in the test report.

In addition, the user is required to extract their existing data from their cloud system platform and transfer it to a third-party platform for the generation of a diagnostic report. Furthermore, the end user must manually inspect and review these final generated reports to spot potential errors or irregularities.

Our main aim for this project was to create an automation solution for faster and more accurate diagnostics analysis, eliminating human error, and providing cloud-based access with high security and safety features. We needed to consider numerous technical and safety aspects while iterating new concept solutions for this system.

Information Architecture:

I structured the information and content in a way that aligns with the users' mental models and facilitates easy navigation. I designed the overall hierarchy of the user interface, ensuring that critical medical information is easily accessible..

User-Centered Approach:

User-Centered Approach:

My approach to design is grounded in empathy and a deep understanding of user needs. I conducted some user research, creating use cases & scenario, mapping user journeys to ensure that the end product meets and exceeds user expectations.

Regular workshop using co-creation method

Regular workshop using co-creation method

During the ideation and concept iteration phase, we focused on sketching numerous design solutions aimed at addressing user pain points and creating a well-functioning flow. These initial concepts were rigorously tested, reviewed, and refined through numerous co-creation workshops, ensuring collaborative input and diverse perspectives.

Outcome
  • Creation of project component library

  • Ideation & Concept design sketches

  • Initial co-creation concept iterations

  • Design concept review workshops

  • Concept testing & validation

  • Daily and weekly Alignment.

  • Refinement of the final design concept.

  • Refinement of final use cases & scenarios

Final design solution

This solution aims to significantly improve the user's ability to perform efficient and precise control testing, maintenance performance testing, and the generation of quality assurance control reports. The outcome of this effort is a notably improved user interface design that enhances the overall flow. This leads to more intuitive interactions that effectively eliminate any obstacles or difficulties. The solution also introduces a refined information hierarchy and product flow. It offers improved accessibility and a wider range of options, minimising limitations for end users.

Final Interactive Prototyping and Delivery Documentation

During this phase, I continued to refine the final details of the prototype, preparing it for delivery. This included comprehensive documentation and validation to ensure quality assurance and a smooth transition. I made sure that all elements were completed according to the requirements and end-users' needs, maintaining high quality of content and assets for handover to the customer.

Outcome

  • Final QA Testing of Design Solution.

  • Confirmation and Validation of Project Deliveries.

  • Developed Complete Interactive Prototypes.

  • Regular Design Review Workshop.

  • Final Interactive UI Interface and Assets Refinements.

  • Finalising & Updating All Use Cases & Scenarios Specifications.

  • Delivery & Handover documentation, online interactive prototype & recordings.

  • Final Meeting, Q&A, and Retrospective.
