Our challenge
We were tasked with conducting a comprehensive market research study, focusing on competitor analysis and the evaluation of existing business travel booking applications. Additionally, we were asked to perform a rapid assessment of the client’s current services, solutions, and web-based platforms to identify areas for improvement and innovation.
The primary objective of this project was to gather insights that would inform the development of a new application tailored specifically for their VIP business customers. This included exploring and analysing the most effective techniques, systems, and secure platforms available for building the new application.
The findings from this pre-study were to be compiled and handed over to the client’s internal team. Furthermore, our role involved assisting their team in getting up to speed with the new system, providing guidance and training to ensure they are well-equipped to continue the development process independently.
To kickstart the project, we initiated a series of meetings and workshops with key stakeholders to fully understand their needs, expectations, and the overarching vision for the application. Our objective was to gain deep insights into their target audience, ensuring that the final product, as well as the platform used to build the application, would effectively address customer needs and common use scenarios.
Through a series of interviews and discussions, we established the foundation for the project's subsequent phases. These initial engagements enabled us to gather critical information, which we then used to develop potential user profiles and use cases. Additionally, we conducted a rapid evaluation of the current market landscape, analysing similar companies and platforms. This included benchmarking against competitors offering comparable services, giving us a clear understanding of the market's status and opportunities.
Based on the insights gathered, we evaluated and presented our recommendations on how and on which platform this application should be built. Our focus was on ensuring the security, safety, and accuracy of the final product, while also meeting customer expectations and operating effectively in the intended environment.

These initial activities set a strong foundation for the project, ensuring that our approach was both user-centred and strategically aligned with Hermes' business goals. This phase provided us with the insights and clarity needed to move forward with confidence, laying the groundwork for the successful development of the Hermes platform.
The User interface concept solution that we iterated, featured a simple, using the companies graphical assets and design system with a logical user experience flow with intuitive functions, designed to streamline the booking process. The UI was created to be modern and engaging, with the primary goal of minimising the number of steps required to complete a booking.
Although the project initially required specific deliverables focused on the pre-study research phase with clear objectives from the client, we went a step further by creating the first ideation and concept wireframes for a potential solution for the Hermes platform. These early design concepts were presented to the client and received highly positive feedback.
However, the client ultimately decided to take the project in-house and continue developing the application on their own.
